Residence Inn across from Lexington Medical Center opens

The new 108-room Residence Inn by Marriott in the greater West Columbia, Lexington area has opened.  

Clancy Cipkala, managing partner and CEO of Solara Hospitality based in Columbia announced the opening Thursday.

“Based on its location directly across from the Lexington Medical Center on Highway 378, the hotel will be able to serve the needs of the patients’ families and staff of the hospital,” stated Cipkala, “In addition the hotel will only be minutes from the I-20 Lexington business district and only two miles from the developing Downtown Vista District.”

The partnership is proud to have local investors and plans on having local residents staff the hotel and add tax revenue to the area. The community has been great to work with and our goal is to adopt the core values and company culture of Mr. Marriott’s, “spirit to serve” – customers, employees and communities around the world.” Living in the greater Columbia area for over 30 years, Cipkala and his team have invested over $50 million in hotels and real estate for the Midlands area. “It is an honor and a pleasure,” Cipkala stated. He is thrilled and grateful to have the opportunity to add business and jobs in his hometown.

With over 600 hotels in the US, the Residence Inns are designed as all-suite hotels that offer studio, one-bedroom, and two bedroom suites. “This new hotel was designed to be a home away from home and provides a residential atmosphere and spacious accommodations for guest comfort,” stated Cipkala. Designed for stays of five nights or more, each suite has a fully equipped kitchen with coffee makers, microwave oven, full-sized appliances and free high-speed internet access. The hotel offers daily housekeeping, complimentary grocery shopping services and same day dry cleaning. A complimentary hot breakfast is available each morning in the lobby area. Other hotel facilities and services include an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, meeting room and a weeknight social hour.
