Pedestrian struck by 3 vehicles, killed on I-26 in West Columbia

Three vehicles hit a pedestrian who was trying to cross I-26 Sunday night. The incident occurred near mile marker 110 at about 9:30 p.m., according to Lance Cpl. Matt Southern of the S.C. Highway Patrol. The site of the collision is in West Columbia, in Lexington County. The collision resulted in the death of the pedestrian.

A 2016 Jeep, driven by a Sumter woman, a 2017 Hyundai driven by a Florida man, and a 2008 Kia driven by a West Columbia man hit the pedestrian. All vehicles were in the middle lane, traveling west, when the pedestrian was hit, said Southern. None of the drivers were injured.

The incident is under investigation by the SCHP.
