Lexington 2, other schools on 2-hour delay, Thursday

Lexington School District 2 Special Board meeting, Aug. 6.

Lexington School District Two on a two-hour delay, Thursday

Lexington School District Two will delay the start of the school day two hours on Thursday, January 18.

The decision was made after consulting with Lexington County officials and fellow school districts. The forecast for freezing overnight conditions could create driving hazards Thursday morning, prompting the call for a delayed start.
As a result of the two-hour delayed start, all 3- and 4-year-old half-day child development classes are cancelled.
Buses will operate two hours later than their normal morning operation times. Students who are dropped off by car should arrive two hours later than normal as well.

Lexington District One delays school openings by two hours Thursday

As a precaution, Lexington County School District One will delay the opening of school Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, by two hours for all staff and students in 4-year-old full-day kindergarten classes and 5-year-old kindergarten through grade 12 classes in all attendance areas. Child development classes for 3-year-olds and 4-year-old half-day kindergarten classes will not meet.

Parents of bus riders should expect delays and should remain patient. Since Lexington District One double routes buses, bus drivers will pick up elementary school students and take them to school. Once they have delivered them safely, they will return to pick up middle and high school students.

Road conditions and concern for the safety of our students, parents and employees as they commute to and from school drive this decision. As always, their safety is our highest priority.

Should conditions worsen and cause a full cancellation of school tomorrow morning, district officials will keep parents, staff and students informed through SchoolMessenger Communicate, the district’s telephone calling system.

Lexington County School District Three will operate on a two-hour delay on Thursday, January 18, 2018.
The two-hour delay is in effect for all faculty, staff and students at Lexington Three’s schools.
