Former state Rep. Rick Quinn (R-Lexington) was sentenced to 500 hours of community service and two years of probation Monday.

Quinn faced the possibility of  one year in prison, but that sentence was suspended to community service and probation. The sentence was rendered by Circuit Court Judge Carmen Mullen in a courtroom in Beaufort.
Quinn pleaded guilty to misconduct in office in December.  Special prosecutor David Pascoe wanted Quinn sentenced to prison for the offense.

Pascoe told Mullen that Quinn, 52,  had taken $4 million in undisclosed payments from lobbyists and the money was channeled  to through Richard Quinn Sr.’s political consulting firm. Richard Quinn Sr. is Quinn’s father, who was given a deal by Pascoe if he cooperates with the prosecutor.
