Compromised dam results in closed streets in Lexington

The compromised dam at the Church Street Commons neighborhood in Lexington caused the closure of South Church Street, between Roberts Street and Gibson Road, Tuesday.  The road closure was a precaution as the Town of Lexington Utilities Department worked to bring the level of the pond down. The Lexington Police Department reported the street closing.

South Church Street was reopened Tuesday night while the Town of Lexington Utilities Department  continued working overnight to lower the water levels of the Church Street Commons neighborhood pond.

The 100 block of Glynway Avenue remained barricaded and closed overnight. LPD image.
