Former Brookland-Cayce Football Coach Bettis Herlong will be inducted into the South Carolina Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in December. Herlong died in 2003. Herlong won 197 games from 1950-1980 at Saluda, Aiken, Johnston (Fla.), Strom Thurmond. He won a state title at Brookland-Cayce in 1966. Fatal accident investigated in Gilbert

The South Carolina Highway Patrol was investigating a fatal accident in Lexington County Saturday night. According to a S.C. Department of Public Safety  report the accident occurred about 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ben Franklin Rd at Frank Harmon Circle in Gilbert. Airport defeated Lower Richland, 30-0, Friday night. The Eagles were led by quarterback Josh Tucker. Tucker is starting in place of quarterback Brett Burnett who was injured in the Brookland-Cayce game, Aug. 28. Tucker threw two TD passes.  One to Kerryon Richardson and one to Alec Spooner.
