Brookland-Cayce drops a 2OT game to Lexington, Airport falls to L-R

Lexington at BC

Lexington took advantage of an uncovered kick in the first quarter to get up on Brookland-Cayce Friday and scored a 29-28 win in double overtime.

Bearcats head coach Rusty Charpia called the game “sloppy.” His team was hit with costly penalties, one that negated a 50-yard-plus TD pass play in the third quarter.

Lexington head coach Perry Woolbright said he’s glad his team pulled it out even if “it ain’t pretty.” He also complimented the Wildcats’ intensity.
Lexington, a 5A school,  jumped out early and was up 13-7 at the half over 3A BC.

The Wildcats got a safety in the third quarter to go up 15-7, but Brookland-Cayce answered with a 79-yard touchdown pass from Reed Charpia to Dominick Perry, who also caught the 2-pt conversion from Daveon Sistrunk to tie it at 15.

The teams traded scores in the fourth quarter and Lexington fumbled at Brookland-Cayce’s 1-yard-line with three seconds left in the game to send it into overtime.

Lower Richland beat Airport 24-19 at L-R, Thursday night.
