Ground broken for Starbucks, Salsarita’s in West Columbia

Word first leaked in July that a Starbucks and Salsarita’s would be built in West Columbia. And ground was broken on the two businesses this week. The building will be on Sunset Boulevard at Chris Drive. It’s at the I-26 intersection, diagonally across from Lexington Medical Center.

Ray Tanner run comes through Cayce Saturday morning

This Saturday, Oct. 24, from 7 a.m. until around 10 a.m. the Ray Tanner Run will take place on the lower end of Knox Abbott Drive. The Blossom Street Bridge will be shut down for about 45 minutes on Saturday morning due to two large waves of runners/walkers leaving Columbia (USC baseball field) and entering Cayce.

Gray Collegiate Academy (GCA) of West Columbia has gotten the “Award of Excellence.” “We are very proud that our school received the Award of Excellence from the South Carolina High School League,” said Todd Helms, GCA’s executive director.
