Airport High School won the Naturchem Invitational Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles defeated River Bluff, 10-3, on the Gators’ home field to take the title.
The last game, that started late on a cool afternoon, was called after 7:30 p.m. due to time limit.

It feels great to win what is hands down the top tournament in the state,” said Airport baseball coach Tim Perry. ” After the first two years, we were 1-7 but came in this year with a small chip on our shoulders and a bag of marbles in our dugout and we handled the big stage with much more poise and confidence. We pitched incredibly well and made improvements at the plate each game.
This group is a fun group to coach. They care for each other deeply.”
To win the 12-team tournament, Airport defeated Belton-Honea Path, Sumter, and Riverside, before taking the finale over River Bluff.
AHS’s Tyler Corbitt opened Sunday’s title game with River Bluff with a lead-off homer. Corbett was later named Outstanding Player of the Tournament.
Sam LaFrage also had a 3-run homer and finished with four RBI and Parker Whittle picked up the win on the mound.
Airport’s Brandon Caughman won the All-Tournament Team Player Award.
